I first tried to photograph this family last Saturday. It had been beautiful all day but when I got to Lincoln Park in West Seattle the rain started to pour. We moved the party to Endolyne Joe's and had a good time sans camera instead. We rescheduled for later in the week and what a blessing. The day was the best of the year. We had a great time and the little girl who just turned one was hands down the best behaved, zen baby ever. What a treat!
I had so much fun with this family at the Olympic Sculpture Park. Britt and I met years and years ago working on a project where I was the designer and she the writer. Fast forward to present day I needed some copy for my up and coming new photography website and she was the first (and really only) person who came to mind. (Don't look around for better copy just yet as I have yet to launch my new site. Current crappy text is no reflection of her work!) I love that we were able to connect again years later for new projects. Had it not been for the beautiful girl in the photos, I could have sworn not a day had passed since we last spoke. I love friends like that! I hope you enjoy your photos, Britt, Brian and Ava!
It was this time last year that I dipped my toe in the waters of portrait photographer for hire. My first clients had just hired me and I was really, really nervous. Fast forward to 2010 and they hired me AGAIN! I wasn't AS nervous... although I am nervous before every session (which I consider a good sign.) I am feeling really honored and flattered for being called back for another year of family photos for such a great family. Thank you "O Family" for taking a chance on me! What a great year it has been.
The reason I bought a digital SLR was to take photos of my family. The family I take photos of has expanded now that the word is out I'm a photo junkie. Recently I took some photos of my nephew Kaj for his upcoming third birthday.
Fortunately I have some CUTE family members. This guy reminds me so much of my brother.
And recently my cousins came to town with their kids. So of course I took photos. The family is spread across the USA so we don't get to see other often. Half of these cousins had never met before these photos, but they were insta-buddies.
Here's my daughter with my cousin's daughter. They were immediate BFFs. Wish they were still here!
Yesterday I had the honor of photographing an extended family in the grandparents amazing yard. The grandparents were getting ready to move but just couldn't find any place that could compare. No surprise!
I love this photo where they all look so happy and relaxed to be together.
Here are the grandparents with all their grandkids.... with one grandson hamming it up.
Grandma and grandpa were super cute. Here they are near their beautiful dogwood trees and hydrangeas. I have serious garden envy!
We ended the session with the kids playing and me just capturing some casual shots. The playing turned into a sort of bean bag tag. The kids had a blast. It is fun to watch cousins have so much fun together.
And this beautiful little girl doesn't take a bad photo! Future top model.
What a beautiful day for a family photo session. I am so happy they asked me to capture their special moments.
